KANNAMARI remakes kimono and yukata textiles into clothing for babies, in Kanamari, Chiba. We shaped the brand end to end — its name and words, photography and film, and a bilingual online store.
At its centre is AKAFUN, a cover for cloth diapers. Each one is cut from a different cloth, so the store lets you read where that cloth came from — and buy that one piece.

MATERIAL
Kimono and yukata textiles, remade for the beginning of life.
Every piece begins with a textile that has already lived a life. The brand's words and look were built around one idea: one of one.
OBJECT
AKAFUN
A cover for cloth diapers — tied with cords instead of elastic, and finished on both faces. Photographed close enough to see the patterns meet and the cloth's texture.

CRAFT
Made by hand, one piece at a time, in Kanamari, Chiba.
VISUAL IDENTITY
THE WEBSITE
From a photograph-led home page to product pages where you read where each cloth came from, through to checkout. Japanese and English sit side by side, and the store was delivered ready to run — legal notice, shipping and FAQ included.

THE TEXTILE
Each piece lists the history of its cloth — and says so when the exact fibre blend is unknown.
